I bet you are wondering what that fruit is 🙂 It is the Key Lime. Here on St. Croix we just call them “Lime”. The scent is amazing, the taste, a bit sour, but better when mixed with a sweetener it makes a great summer time drink. Much like lemonade. As a matter of fact, the two are similar in taste. But when it comes to its wonderful skin benefits, nothing beats it.

The acid in lime juice is great as an exfoliant. It is like a natural peel for the skin. I will do a lime facial about once a month and it leaves my skin feeling silky soft and smooth. It is also great to help brighten dry, dull looking skin. I first learned of its ability to curb overactive oil glands from my then teenage daughters. This was part of their daily morning routine. I would, of course, recommend that you dilute lime juice in some water as using it straight on the face can be daunting if you are not accustomed to it. But every morning, they would go outside, pick the fattest lime off the tree and proceed to wipe their face with the cut fruit. They would leave it on while brushing their teeth and then rinse! Simple. Nothing else needed to be done (except to apply a light oil) and that would keep their oily skin in check and keep them acne free as well. It’s natural juice acids helps to get deep down to clean and clear out clogged pores and it also scrubs away dead skin cells. Using the cut lime on the scalp also helps with dandruff and some men use it as a remedy for razor bumps as well.

You will find this wonderful fruit as an essential oil in our Carib Lime line of skincare products. Your skin will thank you for it.
